Dear Families,
We are reading books about a snowy day. As the weather gets colder take time to talk about how we need to dress for the cold weather. Talking with your child about every day events helps expand vocabulary in a way he or she will understand. Children learn new words by hearing them used so that they can learn to use the new words themselves.
Dressing for cold weather
As the weather changes, we need to wear different clothes to protect us from the cold. Use some of these words as you help your child get ready for school: boots, coat, clothes, hat, mittens, scarf, shirt, sweater, weather, warm and cold.
Visit the library
If your child doesn’t have a library card yet, you can get one for FREE at the Public Library. You can both choose books to borrow. Look for books that follow your child’s interest. Look for both story books and books with photographs and information about real things.
Books that we are reading this week: “It Looks Like Spilt Milk”, ‘The Snowy Day” and “A hat for Minerva Louise”
Letter of the Week: L- We are putting the letters in our name in the correct order to make a Love Bug
Math- We are in week 10 in building blocks. We continue to talk about shapes, comparing small numbers and produce small numbers by completing an action like jumping 3 times, touching toes 5 times…
Science- We have been observing animals in a block of ice in the water table. We continue to play with Goop
Religion- We continue to pray each day in the morning, before snack and lunch and at the end of the day. This week our lesson is “Wonderful Me”
Lunch Forms are due tomorrow for February.
No School Friday, January 29th- Professional Day for teachers
